I mean, I heard stories...but this swelling has gotten so bad so fast that I am a little freaked out. I'm also worried about working a full day. I went to a meeting today from 8:30-2:30 and when I got home I had the feet of a 400 pound woman. This blew me away.
They are so gross looking that I'm embarrassed to post the pictures I took on here...they are pretty bad. I don't embarrass easily. However, to really prove how bad it is--here we go.
I did have enough foresight to take a before picture--my feet were already a little puffy because I had been up for a couple of hours:
See how the inside of my ankle is all round??? I mean, what?? And yes, I'm chubby--but the tops of my feet aren't usually that puffy; you can usually see the little bones.
WARNING!!! The following pictures may disturb you greatly!!!
Apparently my sandals weren't doing me any favors. THESE are some fat feet. Wow. I don't understand my my left is so much worse than my right...but regardless: they weren't pretty. I even made sure to stand a lot and walk around--I didn't sit a whole lot (I feel that they get worse when I'm sitting a long time). I laid up on the couch for a couple of hours with my feet way up when I got home, and they were back to normal. Whew.
I am officially 32 weeks as of tomorrow, so I guess because it's close to the end this is normal and I shouldn't worry about it too much. I have to work all day Monday and then go to the OB, so they'll be big again--we'll see what she says. Until then I actually own circulation stockings, and am thinking about donning them tomorrow. The problem with that is: It's 100 degrees outside and they are so granny looking! I'll have to wear those and pants to cover them with--WHEWWW.
Good (work related) news: Our meeting today was pretty interesting. I learned so much about the legal reasonings behind IEP measures and practices (that's special ed. paperwork). It was pretty interesting to hear how some of these laws came about and to hear about some cases that have taken place across the country. The speaker was good about presenting cases where the student/parent was wrong, but also some where the school district had screwed up royally. In previous districts that I've worked in I have definitely done some of the things that could be problematic for the district--but that's what we were told to do. I never knew it was so wrong! Teachers: Educate yourselves so you don't get left out to dry on your own down the road! I want to read the bulletins...but I don't see that happening soon. I'll just make sure I'm very familiar with student/parent rights for gifted students.
I also met the talented music/drama teacher--we'll probably work together a little. She is great! I'm so excited! We've both taught in TX and are now here and she's close to my age--and we both have no clue how we're supposed to do our jobs yet. It's perfect. We really have a lot of power (which is scary) over the program and the direction it goes in. Looks like we've got a tough year ahead, but it's exciting.

These pushpins are freaking awesome!!! I bought them for the little bulletin board in Camille's room and I LOVE THEM!
Here they are holding up my baby shower invitation (also owls...addiction!). So sweet!
They're great because they're big enough to add decoration to the board, very colorful so they match with everything; they're owls (huge points); and they're easy to push in and pull out--plus they're so big we won't have one drop on the floor and not be able to find it. That worried me with it being a baby's room. We may later discover that having pushpins in a baby's room is not a good idea...but I figure we probably will stick some pictures up there and little notes and won't really play with them much.
Anywho--check out her site, she's got some super cute little pins and buttons and a variety of other things.
Okay--I'm going to go put these feet up again...and will consider using my granny stockings tomorrow to keep from having this problem again.
There are circulation socks.. they're just as bad as the stockings, but might not be as hot? Not sure... goodluck with all that! try staying off your feet as much as possible. and welcome to the blog world :)
ReplyDeleteThanks--you guys helped inspire me to log some info in! So many weird things happen when you're pregnant--I wanted to be able to remember them later on.
ReplyDeleteI may look into the socks for work; that may be better! Thanks! Today was much better as far as swelling goes.
