Labor....this girl is sloooowwww!

Okay, so apparently when they say "get sleep early on because later you won't be able to" it didn't apply to me.  I went to sleep when contractions were about 20 minutes apart and woke up 2 hours later.  The contractions had slowed to about 30 minutes apart.  Dangit!  Then, at 6:30 when they were moving really close to 5 minutes apart I passed out again and woke up 3 hours later....contractions are erratic, but some are 6 minutes apart--others are super far apart (and they're milder).  Insane.  She's one slow moving girl.

I'm on hold with the nurse at the doctor's office.  I just called to see if they wanted to send the records now so that when we go we're good and ready to ease right in.  Well, I threw that plan off by saying we weren't ready to go yet.  "Oh...well....maybe you should come see the nurse here."....why??  I'm definitely in labor.  Have been since early Sunday morning...it's just SLOW.  I don't want to go sit in the hospital if I can be home.

I have been on hold for a really long time.  There is only one doctor in today apparently (not my doctor, of course), so things are going to suck over there today.

Oh wait...so I was just informed that my doctor's office (all women doctors) is apparently connected with another office and that doctor is on call and is male.  HELLO.  I was all laid back about not caring who delivered because I assumed it would be a woman no matter what.  Ugh.  I have NEVER had a man examine me, and I am not excited about that.  Boo.

I'll get over it and keep my cool for my baby--but that is so unexciting.  Plus, they want me to go there right away--which I didn't want to do.  We still have a good hour of relaxation time (so I thought).  Oh well.  I guess it's time to get things rolling.

We're off to pack up the car and see what the doctor has to say.  In spite of having to go see some strange man on a day like today for an exam like that, I am super excited!!!!  We should be able to meet our little girl at some point today or early morning tomorrow.

Next time I won't sleep so much!  I guess the rest was good, but I could maybe be closer to being done by now.  and I'm hungry--but I'm not about to eat.  I don't want to throw up or do anything embarrassing later.

Okay--enough stalling.  I guess Baby C takes after her Mamma.  :)

Next post: Pictures!!!

  1. In my world (military health care) you have no say on your doctors. You choose the hospital (2 options in my area) and had the same nurse for prenatal appts, but she is an OB nurse, not labor and delivery. The Doc that delivered Noah I met seconds before push time.. Don't worry. She'll come out soon enough and you'll be tired an not blogging at all! GOODLUCK!

  2. I'm the opposite - only ever been examined by a male. Do you remember how modest I was/am? Don't you even worry, you will soon lose all inhibitions and you would literally let the janitor check you. That lack of inhibitions also lasts after delivery. I remember shocking Erik by whipping out my boob in the pediatrician's office to show the MALE doctor exactly the trouble I was having with breastfeeding. We still laugh about me doing that :) I'm sure you won't even read this till after you deliver, but I can't wait to hear your story. It will be special, wonderful, and unique - just like you :)
