Just What the Doctor Ordered!
Little C is as healthy as a horse (whatever that means...horses get sick....?).
She is growing rapidly (as I suspected!). She's up to 9 lbs, 6 oz. after two weeks of just breastmilk. That's a pound higher than her birthweight. It didn't take her long to gain back what she lost the first day or two and then jump up. We've decided that my boobs don't make milk, they make buttermilk or cheese. It's insane. She doesn't spit up milk, she spits up curds.
Here is perhaps the most amusing picture of Camille to date.
She is passed out in a puddle of milk that she had hoarded in her cheeks. When she fell asleep I backed off and out it came--hilarious. She was OUT too, just totally limp. This is a great blackmail picture for later in life. Enjoy.
Camille also grew about half an inch in the length and her head has gotten bigger. She's doing really well and all things came back great--great feedback. She also slept through most of the visit and was calm for the rest of it. Awesome baby!
She slept FOUR HOURS last night. That's five hours between feedings. Did I already brag about that? I may do it again later. Awesome. She is two weeks old!!
We also went on a couple of shopping trips recently to get things together for pumping. We aren't there yet, but soon! After five hours between an eating my boob was unhappy...we may need a pump to keep the supply up, keep my chest from exploding, and to stock pile milk for dates and outings.
My birthday was this week--I got some flowers from Mrs. B that were both for me and C:
Pretty!
Here are some fun faces from C:
Also, she's already rolling to her side. This may not be an advanced thing to do, but I'm so proud of her. She rolls to her side and sleeps like her Mamma. She's got one arm under her head and one over her little body. So cute! (Notice the spit up mark on the sheet by her knees...I do laundry daily...it's ridiculous. How do people survive babies if they don't own a washer and dryer???) That is also a pacifier in her mouth. Thanks to Carley, we've got one that she'll take and keep--it's been super helpful! She hasn't liked the other ones I have given her at all and they're too easy to bat out. This one rocks!
Those are all of the updates I can recall at this point in time.
As for me, I got some gigantic sweatshirts at walmart to wear around the house/out/to workout in since I have zero warm maternity clothes and I'm still huge. I don't fit in any of my old warm stuff yet, so I broke down and bought a couple of warm things. I also bought some men's t-shirts to sit around the house in. They were five bucks, fit loosely, and will make life easier. It was a very exciting shopping trip (which is a downgrade from my previous shopping trips, so that's me making adjustments to mom-life for now).
Camilleisms:
She is smiling more already! Awake, asleep--all the time. Sometimes so big that her little tongue comes out.
She holds her head up for extended periods of time--I will have to time it to see how long she can go, but I swear it's up to a full minute or close! Wahoo girl!
She toots like a tuba now, less trumpet-like.
She grunts and talks to us a lot! I swear she's a talker already. When she's awake she talks to us, and sometimes she even talks while she's eating.
