Mamma Trauma

Week of trauma for Mamma--big time.

1. I clipped her thumb while trimming her nails!  I would put a picture here for memory's sake, but I cried so hard that Brian was trying to make it seem like I'd barely done anything and then I covered it up with a little sock and didn't look at it for a while.  It was too upsetting.  She cried so hard--it killed me.  I was sobbing.  Poor baby girl!  I will no longer trim her nails--we will file and her grandmother will clip them.

2. Sleep set back!  She slept with me on the couch twice this week.  Not so traumatizing emotionally (I loved cuddling again), but my back was the victim.  I can't do that anymore.  She's back in the playpen and night before last went to bed around 10:30 and slept until 7:45 with NO feedings or anything.  WOW.  Last night was only until 5:45 this morning, but that's perfect since ......

3.  I return to work tomorrow.  Oooooh goodness.  I think I'm ready to go back and get out there and be a professional and a person again instead of just a mom, buuuuut...why does my mom time have to be cut so dramatically????  I'm going from all day 7 days a week to only 2 full days and 5 days of about 5 hours before she goes to bed.  That's really sad.  I am going to miss hanging out with this awesome girl so much.

  1. Just catching up on your posts! I made my mom clip Addison's nails for the first time since she's a nurse and had been a mom twice before....And - she clipped Addison's finger too. All 3 of us cried! It was so traumatic. So I know just what you mean. If it makes you feel any better - it hasn't happened since!

  2. Aw it's okay!! I hate clippers, too. How you tried nail scissors? they make it WAY easier... But yeah, Adam's mom did it the first several times.. Every time they cry it's so traumatic.. I somehow thought that would magically stop when I quit nursing, but alas... Hope work goes well!
