Nursing no more :(

I've stopped nursing and am only pumping, which has already reduced my already low supply even more.  I still have mixed feelings, but am adjusting and am even pumping less.  We will be on all formula before too long.  It was a nice run though!  I won't post any pictures as a memorial though--don't worry.

As though I needed extra guilt, C has a fever today.  Her first ever.  It was at 101.4 at one point.  Yikes!!  I knew something was up when, after eating at 6am, she slept until 11!!  I knew I was getting too much sleep!  I know that formula didn't make her sick and that breastmilk can't cure a fever, but it sure makes me feel like less breastmilk=sickness already.  Boo.

It has gone down some after Tylenol, but is still lingering.  We have her 6 month appt. tomorrow morning, so the nurse said to Tylenol and just go then.  She has been snuggling with me in the rocker all day, which has been so nice!  Poor thing!  She is already sleeping again, and doesn't want me to put her down.  I sure wish I knew how to use my new sling easily.  It would be perfect.  (I got a KarmaBaby sling...more on that when I feel comfortable with it.  It was on sale for super cheap, so I thought I'd go for it--mostly for our next child when we have one.)  It has been a sweet day though--getting to cuddle.  She doesn't like it so much when she is her usual self.  Ms. Independent!

In other news--she has been dropping her noonies behind her crib.  We took off the bumpers because she was burying her face in them at night to sleep.  I didn't like that.  Plus she's already shown interest in trying to pull up on things.  Anyway--two are down there--one as of this morning--and we only have two, and naturally when she's sick (this was a horribly written sentence).  I tried to get them, but she was crying and was in the crib, so I didn't want to move it (or didn't even think to do that at the time honestly--genius), so I had to break out a new one.  It's an LSU one from her granny and pop.  Cute!  I'm in house gear--was planning on packing and cleaning, so don't mind me.

Also...lately I have noticed that she smells like her daddy.  Smell has always been big for me.  I don't mean perfume and deodorant--I mean natural odor.  You can smell people--ya know?  Brian's smell has always been good--except when I was pregnant.  There was a change in it, or in my perception of it-and it wasn't bad, it just wasn't as attractive if that makes sense.  Anyway--Camille has her daddy's scent.  Is that gross?  Should I not be blogging that?  I just think it's cool--it's very mammalian, ya know?  We can smell each other, and I can recognize their scent as part of my family.  Pretty animalistic.

Random!

Okay--back to caring for my sick baby.  Sweet girl!  She has completely conquered her parents.

OH--and we had an excellent Easter!  And Brian and I had our Anniversary on Camille's 6 month-day yesterday!  We went out and had a grand ole time.  I'll post a separate blog on these events (I have lots of pictures, but won't repost most since they are all on Facebook).

Happy Rainy Wednesday to everyone!

  2. YAY--It is really a special thing between you and your baby--you will love it (I hope). I was lucky in that I didn't have any problems with latch or infections, so I hope you have it smoothly too! Make sure you get a breastfriend pillow--way more awesome than Boppy pillows for nursing (Boppys are still good for propping your little Louis up though).
I'll message you about work pumping! So excited for you Danya!!
