Our older nephews had the "for me???!!!" excitement with each gift they received and the babies were all cuddled up in blankets with different family members throughout the day/night.
We traveled to one family Christmas in Texas and got to do Christmas morning with the family in pj's and lounged around and enjoyed ourselves without stressing about traveling or dressing too nice. Then we made it home for B's family Christmas and it was just as relaxing--family without the stresses. It was one of the most relaxed and enjoyable Christmases I've had as a grownup I think. Of course, having a sweet baby to calm me down probably helped.
The most proud moment of this Christmas was when I gave B his gift from me:
Here are the grandkids on my side posing together in their jammies:
Adam is our newest addition--he is soooo tiny next to Camille. Really, Camille looks pretty big even next to Tyler! In her defense, her jammies were too big for her.
We had a guest for Christmas: FLASH!
A costume our nephew got for Christmas--excellent idea!! He was runnin' all over like lightning. Loved it!
Camille posed in a carriage her great grandmother used to play in--very neat. She looks like a little doll in the gown and bonnet her grandmother made her. The pink patent shoes don't really match as well as I'd thought, huh?
So, we had a great time with all the kids and the adults too. I know I should have some special memories to document so that I don't forget them, but it was just constant warmth and fuzziness...no standout events or moments really. Pop got to meet his granddaughter and grandson for the first time and they enjoyed it. Camille laughed at him and talked to him like she'd known him all along.
WAIT: I've thought of a standout event.
We went to mass in Texas, but the black pants I brought were covered in white lent from C's blankets. I mean Covered. I had to wear my pj pants...maternity sweatpants people. Eesh. To make it even more exciting, I wore my Croc flip flops because I had forgotten my dress shoes. Good grief. In I went with my belly sagging in the sweater I had, my baggy butted sweatpants, and my flip flops. Praise God for Him not worrying about my appearance. It rained while we were in mass, so upon exiting I got the thrill of wet feet in the winter cold. Good times.
More excitingly: Today, Camille laughed. I mean LAUGHED. Not one giggle, but consecutive giggles that sounded like, "hehehe". It was awesome. I was blowing raspberries on her cheek and neck and at first she wasn't sure if she liked it or not, but then she let that laugh out!! I think I immediately scared her because I yelled in excitement. No more laughs after that--but it was so great!!! I almost cried. I definitely teared up. It's got to be the most beautiful sound there is.
She also pooped three times so far today...that is no fun. We were happy with our one big dirty diaper a day. I always thought breastfed babies' poop wasn't supposed to smell. WRONG.
She gets her shots this Thursday morning...I am so scared of what might happen as far as the rest of her day goes. I just hate the idea of her being in pain. I've heard some babies get feverish and don't feel well the rest of that day--ugh. Poor baby!! Lets hope that doesn't happen.
OOOOH my gosh. Sleep update. I can't believe I've forgotten to update this!!! I've been sleeping in a BED!!! In Texas she slept in her carseat, and I slept in the bed--I'd forgotten how comfortable beds are! So, once we got home I was more of an advocate for bed sleep. The night we got back I crashed in the bed with her in the playpen and she did beautifully! She slept for about 7 hours, then 4, then 4 more! (our schedule was shot and we are working to fix it now) I'm excited. We've even moved our bedroom to a room next to the nursery so she can go in her crib soon. We're working up to it--very soon! Which is good...since I go back to work in 2 weeks (unexcitedly at this point).
Ahh...good things are happening! Laughs, sleeping in beds, lots of cuddle time remaining, and lots of family time. 2010 has been an excellent year!
