Mother's Day!

My very 1st Mother's Day!  How exciting!

We're mid-house-packing, I'm having some serious girl pains, my Mom is out of town, and Camille is teething, cranky, and had a huge poop at 6:30 this morning that gave off a less than pleasant scent.  Go figure.

I didn't mean to be so negative--it hasn't actually been a bad day, it's just not what a "First Mother's Day" would ideally sound like.

Let me try again.

I got to sleep an extra 2 hours this morning, I got a nice breakfast with no work, I got to go shopping by myself and daydream about decorating our house, and I have an extra cuddly baby who is so happy to see me after her naps.

She's also healthy, which I am so so so thankful for.  I am so blessed to have my Mom, MIL, both Grandmothers, and daughter all healthy and with us today.
My mom and I in Antwerp. Belgium this summer.  Camille is in my belly.

Easter with my girl

We are thinking about having Mexican for dinner--our big celebration!--(healthy except for the chips, which I will cheat for), but we'd have to get Mom and Dad to watch her and that makes me feel bad.  Happy Mother's Day Mom!  Can you babysit?  :/

Cool thing Camille did today:  She pulled up to standing!!!!!!  She was climbing and pulling up on my legs (I was sitting Indian style) and I put my hands down and she grabbed them and pulled all the way up.  I'm sure I probably helped her some by holding onto her hands, but I didn't do any lifting--she walked those little feet up and pulled and then pushed up.  It was nuts.  So, I guess it isn't really time to lower her crib or to worry about shoes, but she is getting strong!  We need to get some serious safety things for our home asap.

A note about Mothers:
My Mom has been amazing forever.  She is a natural teacher, she's caring even when we were (are) mean/ungrateful, she loves unconditionally and completely, and she is hilarious.  I am blessed beyond words to have her as my mother and Camille is so lucky to have her as her grandmother.
My MIL is also pretty awesome!  She has been very welcoming to me, very giving, and very understanding.  She also loves Camille and takes great care of her!  She's made some special things for Camille and I am so excited that she will have those things to pass down to her daughters way down in the future.
God bless all of my other family members that are mothers and do such an excellent job of caring for their little (and big) ones, my friends who are wonderful moms, and all future moms!  Being a Mom has been the most fulfilling and terrifying and joyous task/event/lifestyle change in my life.  It is amazing how fast your life changes and how little you care about what you used to think was so important.  I'm also insanely paranoid about everything...is that normal?  :)
