At work today two people looked at me funny and asked when I was due as if I was about to have the baby right there. I get the, "hey--how are YOU doing?!?!!" all of the time. It's not the sexy way of saying it, it's the "I'm afraid to get amniotic fluid on my shoes" way of saying it.
This must mean that the shirt I wore today made me look HUGE. **Note to self: scrap pink shirt.**
At work today I was introduced to several fun, brain-challenging things. One: Slide-in shape making. You take one polygon and use it to build this insane 3D shape:
How awesome are these?!?! And, the cool part is that my kids will make their own up--like, they will pick a polygon and create one of these shapes from their brain. I can't really figure out how to make this a reality, but it's coming! Our kids can do it!! I would like to point out that glue and/or tape are not required to make these, it's just slits in paper (cardstock stays better). You don't fold anything either--you just slide them together flat. I am making one soon to make sure I get the concepts involved, then we're taking it to geometry!
I was also introduced to two games: Blokus and Qbits.
These are some seriously awesome and challenging games. They require a lot of spacial thinking, which isn't used much in curriculums or classrooms. I haven't seen the kids with them, but after B kicked my butt in both of these games (while also showing me new ways to look at them) I decided these were worth the money and time. I don't own them, but I will! I won't play against B anymore though. His IQ is obviously superior (at least in this area of ability).
Speaking of B and his genius...tonight after dinner I was packing up a lunch for tomorrow and I hear, "Woah...sausage too? Will you be able to fit all of that in that little container? You're going to have to cram that lid on there."
Yes, brilliant, this one. :) Luckily I still love him and yes--I'm having sausage in addition to two medallions of pork tenderloin.
I made some more hairbows today for some of my family's new babies and older babies. They aren't finished (or as cute as the ones I made while supervised), but I'm glad I made a few more so I could keep the skill around. I'll let you see how they turn out (because I know you're just on edge wanting to see them) tomorrow.
I love your blog and visit!
