Hospital Visit

Here's a picture of our little girl!!  Check out those chubby cheeks!!!  Ahhh--so cute!  I can't wait to meet her--very excited!

We had another exam yesterday.  After the pictures I went in and waited under a sheet for the exam.  I was super ready to find out about progress since we'd been walking more.  In doc went for the exam--another quotable quote:

"Sorry about the knuckle sandwich!"--this while she's so far in there she's basically examining other things with her knuckles.  Yowza.

Good news is, I'm 50% effaced and 1 cm dilated!  Progress is progress--yay!!!!

After seeing these pictures yesterday and getting another exam (lovely), I was so excited about meeting her!  So, I went to Mom's to walk some more, and on our way out of the door kaboooooom.

I fell to the ground.  It's like my legs just stopped working--became wet noodles.  Luckily the car was parked close to the door--we think it slowed my fall.  Mom and I can't really understand how I fell and only hurt my legs--I didn't land on anything else.  It's as though God just gently laid me down after my legs went out.  I heard some loud pops in my legs and felt my left knee snap a little, so I was freaked out that I had actually broken both legs.  I just kept picturing starting out Mommyhood with a wheelchair.  I was not excited about that prospect--two huge adjustments at once!  Mom was panicking for the baby's health.  I wasn't--I guess I could tell she hadn't hit at all and I knew she was okay.

We called an ambulance because we couldn't tell what was wrong with my legs, and I was scared to move them too much and hurt things worse.  Plus there was no way I could get up and not have another fall since I'm so much bigger now and my balance is off.

Off to the hospital.  That's a hard phone call to make when you're so close to delivery!  "Hey, I'm in the hospital.  No, I'm not having the baby.  I fell.  No, the baby's fine, I just have hurt legs."  Scare after scare.

Anywho--here's the end result to a long night of waiting, xrays, and baby monitoring (she's great by the way):

I twisted my left knee and sprained my right ankle.  Can't really do crutches with the size I am, so we got a walking boot and I took today off to rest up the ankle.  I can't drive either, so that'll be interesting.

Brian was being very entertaining in the hospital--I don't know if it was nerves or he was just bored since he knew we were okay, but it was pretty hilarious.  He was super antsy.  I'm hoping it was just because he knew we were fine and that he will be more focused for labor.

Today I've been at Mom's so I could get some help and not have to get up more than necessary.  Brian spoiled me last night and she's been doing it all day.  It's been so nice!!

Dad also sent Mom some flowers today:

Glad I got to be here for that--they're so pretty!!

The trip to the hospital was a nice little practice run, but now I'm hoping baby C will wait a little longer so I can walk around better for labor.  It's going to be hard to keep focused on labor and on natural pain management if I can't walk or move like I want to.
