Primal Life

Well, we've gone Primal!  All veggies, fruit, nuts, dairy, and meat.  No grains.

I feel good and am down 5 pounds (maybe 6) already!  Yay!  I don't miss the breads and beans as much as I thought I would, and I get to have dark chocolate daily, so it's great!  I was worried that it would be bad for Camille, but it's super healthy just minus grains.  I figured that it would actually help her out in one area (wink wink) because of all of the water and fiber.  However....she went 4 days without a poop and was fussy fussy and not sleeping well.

So, we took the next rational step.  We helped her out.  Fleet.  We had her in just a diaper on an old sheet in her chair.

Poor baby!!  She screamed until it was all out of there.   It smelled horrible and there was lots.  It came out of the top of the diaper in the front and back.  Good story, huh?  One for the books anyway.  I think she just needed time to adjust, because now she's back on track.

She is still crying when we put her down, but much less and it's a much less sad cry.  She's woken up a few nights, but just for a diaper change and then she quietly goes back to sleep on her own.  She plays in there before she drifts off--it is so cute.  We watch in the video monitor with a cup of coffee.  She looks at her little keyboard and smiles or plays with her hands or puts her hands in her mouth and talks.  Here are some pictures of her in the monitor...sorry for the creepiness.

It is great being a mom.

  1. We had that same poop problem, both with strictly breastfeeding and while eating cereals/veggies/fruits. A couple of times we had to "birth" a poop, which is totally disgusting, I know, but it was so hard it wouldn't come out without a little rubber-gloved helping hand. That poor kid was MISERABLE--she kept trying to go but just couldn't do it alone!

I know that's a totally gross tale, but basically wanted you to know you're not alone!!

  2. Oh man, not looking forward to birthing poops--that sounds rough. Glad to know it isn't my diet though, and glad it's not just me! :)
